This privacy statement sets out how the Home Office complies with EU data protection requirements. This applies to the entire HOBO package. Any changes to these policies will be publicized on the Home Office website homepage and will be included in the updated privacy statement. The Home Office is committed to respecting your privacy. We have structured HOBO so that, in general, you can view our disks or website without identifying yourself or revealing any personal information. Once you choose to provide us with any information by which you can be identified then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement. For your protection we are registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 and have given all appropriate notifications to the Information Commissioner.

What Information We Collect

We may collect the following information as submitted to the HOBO program by you:

  • Registering your company

The name of your organization, its logo, its nationality, its location, a contact name (you should ensure that you have the consent of any individual's details submitted), its phone and fax numbers, its email and website addresses, and general information about the company's activities, its wants and needs.

  • Cookies

Some products like websites and disk-based literature use cookies. We don't.

  • Market Intelligence

We may also ask you later to provide us with information regarding your personal or professional interests, demographics, experiences with our products, and contact preferences in order to provide you with further correspondence about the products and services offered by sister-organisations or preferred suppliers. You can say no!

What do we do with the information we gather?

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service . We require information for management information systems, for research and for internal record-keeping. We may use the information for TQM (Total Quality Management) in order to improve our products and services. Our representatives will usually follow up by email, phone, fax or mail, contacting people who have registered their company details. We may periodically send promotional email about new products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided. From time to time we may also use your information to contact you for market research purposes. We may contact you by email, phone, tax or mail.

If you have supplied us with your details but do not wish the Home Office or its partners Ads Infinitum to contact you with promotional material or for market research purposes, simply email unsubscribe@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk with your company name in the subject box so that we may remove you from our lists.
