1.3 The software:

The HOBO software is designed to make life easier for both crown officials and bidders. And this is how:

  • Most importantly, you ONLY have to create your bid responses in Section 5 (see the blue area below). Only that part of the program is interactive. The rest is informational
  • The yellow areas below (Sections 1, 3, 4, 6 and 7) are common to all tenders through HOBO. So they’ll never change. But you ought to read the information in them once. We’ve made it as easy to understand as possible!
  • The red area below (Section 2) is all about this particular tender. So it will be new to you and you need to digest the information there to make an effective bid. Only then should you complete and submit the bid using the blue Section 5.

How we use the data which you submit via the autocalculator

This data is not shared. But it is pooled on a database in order for crown officials to

  • Evaluate your data in isolation
  • Evaluate your data in the context of other bids
  • Determine AM (Arithmetic Mean) figures using data from all bidders that will reflect the consensus of opinion on what the contract, and similar contracts, should cost to deliver. This is useful for future budgeting as a predictive tool
  • Allow crown officials to have an overview which would make any project-management easier – and prevent unnecessary liaison after a contract is initiated
