1.2 The bid process:

This HOME OFFICE BID ORGANISER (HOBO) allows you to do the following:

Get the information you need

  • Read about the government department you’d be working for
  • Read about our specific needs on this occasion
  • Read about how even small businesses and individuals can win bids on merit – whatever their financials, if they have an overriding USP such as an existing product or service that is a perfect or near match to the tender specifications
  • Understand how to use the HOBO system to make and store your bids

Interact with us

  • Download easily-customisable specimen documents like policy statements which you might need for this bid (documents which may anyway be useful to you, after necessary customisation, for use in your business)
  • Enter your bid using a template which has been customised for this specific contract – you’ll realise that we are not requesting information that we don’t need this time around
  • Store the bid to use it as a short-cut for generating future bids – where you may be asked to provide some different information, and where responses might differ, but where you are able to avoid repetitions that are wasteful of your time and patience
  • Tell us about your experience with HOBO
  • Tell us about your experience with this government department – constructive criticism is invited

How to start – check the timeline first

Section 2 tells you what the timeline is for this particular bid. That same cut-off date is repeated in Section 5. Then, in Section 6, you can find out in general terms how the process continues after the closing-date.
